In this picture, you see an assortment of various fruits, with fresher, tastier foods costing drastically more than the older, lass tasty fruits. Wealthy people can afford the more expensive fruits, while others are deprived. Since healthier foods are more expensive, the population in an impoverished area will resort to junk foods. How can you encourage those without money to buy healthy foods if they stay so expensive?
People in food deserts tend to buy processed, packaged or canned produce such as the canned green beans. This prevents us from getting the vitamins and nutrients we get from fresh produce. We can solve this situation by making people aware, and encourage them to get fresh produce.
It’s a restaurant, Royal Grill, and a sign of KFC with a student walking. People who walk home hungry are usually influenced to buy fast food than to buy healthy food from a nearby store. It encourages others to eat unhealthy which can cause future health problems such as obesity. In order to prevent this we could create more gardens in the community and emphasize the importance of nutrition.
There is a healthy lunch that includes a salad and water. This is showing what healthy options are available at school. This option exists to increase the overall health of our school. To make this option better, we could offer more options on the salad bar, and more healthy snacks instead of chips.
In this picture it shows how people prefer to eat unhealthy rather than healthy. People prefer to eat at an unhealthy restaurant for the simple reason that it is fast, not measuring the consequences it can lead in the future. Others just don’t have access to fresh fruits and vegetables, and as a result eat at a fast food restaurant or go to a gas station or liquor store and buy junk food. It is more convenient for them, cheaper, and tastes better, they rather eat it. Most of the time people are very busy, they don’t have time to cook and go for the easier option, junk food.
